A lot has been said in recent times about the whole "web 2.0" thing - and often the term is misconstrued (as per my use of it in describing the update to my blog).
A definition of web2.0 (from wikipedia) is as follows:
Web 2.0, pronounced "web two point oh" [1], a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2003[1] and popularized by the first Web 2.0 conference in 2004[2] , refers to a perceived second generation of web-based communities and hosted services — such as social-networking sites, wikis and folksonomies — which facilitate collaboration and sharing between users. O'Reilly Media titled a series of conferences around the phrase, and it has since become widely adopted.
Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to Web technical specifications, but to changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the web as a platform. According to Tim O'Reilly, "Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform." [3]
However the term web 2.0 is often used to refer to a cleaner, modern style of web design, often featuring technologies such as AJAX to improve the user experience. This is the definition I am refering to with my blog, whilst I don't agree that it is in the true essence of web 2.0 - hence the addition of the "ish" in the title :)
I think Emily Chang summed it up quite well in her blog when she referred to it as "design 2.0"
Strangely enough - a lot of design 2.0 sites a very white and pale - but I figured with a name for my blog like "darkness reigns" it was a bit hypocritical.
So yes there's a lot of features left to implement before it is truly a web 2.0 blog - however the design aspect is done and it's proving a good way to refine my new modular php codebase.
